Relocation?

I know I used the word in the sense of moving away, but words, although mean a standard definition, can bring feelings of other similar meanings. Relocation to me means exactly what it means here: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/relocation ... to move or establish in a new place.

Right now, I am at a turning point. In a month, Ashlee and I will have to renew our ... or her lease here at Windsong for another year at $900/mo. 2 bedrooms, 1250sqft, beautiful balcony and cathedral ceilings, 46" samsung mounted on the wall above the fireplace...why would I want to?

Well, money... everyone's feeling some sort of effect of this "recession/depression" we're in, and I'm no stranger to debt. However, with the renewal of the lease comes the option to move elsewhere... Ashlee just got her 60 day notice from ICF, so she needs to find another job asap. There are possibilities here in New Orleans, as well as Baton Rouge. And, if the new job would hopefully offer her a decent salary comparable to the one she's about to lose, then wherever the job may be would be a logical place to relocate to. And, if the salary offer is equal or more than what she's receiving now...then it'd be pretty stupid not to accept the offer and relocate if need be. However, I'm happy at my job for now. With the promise of another raise and profit sharing (we'll see about that one), and also a few programmers to boss around, projects to manage, and experience to continue to gain, I don't have much reason to look elsewhere.

Today, Ashlee found an apartment in Metairie, right off of Ridgelake and 9th st, by the lake and by Causeway/W. Esplanade...not a bad area at all and for $800/mo, electricity, water, trash, sewer, washer/dryer included...gated...1300sqft "townhouse" style...it seems almost too good to be true. Sure $800/mo is barely a reason to shout about, but combine that with eliminating electricity, which can sometimes soar to $300/mo + here at the zero insulation, green-unfriendly apartment we have now, you can see how much money we can really save. Sure, I'll have to dismount the tv, patch the big holes in the wall for that...figure out how I'm going to pretty much single-handedly move all of this shit again...and move it into another place..mount the tv again and yadda, yadda, yadda....

Well, I have a lot of contemplation ahead of me, and only a month to decide whether I stay for another expensive summer here, in this pimp apartment...or find something cheaper. I am a cheap person, and with Ashlee's likely pay-cut imminent, saving money is my number one priority, followed by making more of it.
